In the contemporary dance piece 'ORBITING,' the dancers explore constantly changing circular constellations, creating a mesmerizing visual poetry. Like planets or electrons, the performers orbit one another in precise walking patterns, weaving mandala-like formations that continuously evolve and dissolve. This perpetual motion serves as a powerful metaphor for navigating life's constant changes while seeking harmony and meaningful connection.
The circular movements invite viewers into a contemplative, almost meditative stateāa rare moment of collective stillness in our hectic world. Beyond its aesthetic dimension, 'ORBITING' carries profound social resonance: in an era marked by division and polarization, the dance envisions a delicate equilibrium that must be continuously recalibrated through mutual awareness and respect. It offers a vision of togetherness that doesn't demand uniformity, but rather celebrates the dynamic harmony possible when diverse elements find their orbit around common centers.
The piece is a further development by choreographer Fabian Cohn of his dance piece "KREISEN" ("Circling") from 2021.
